What are your favorite white zinfandel wines?
April 1st, 2010
I’ve tried Berenger and Sutter Homes, looking for some other types to try, Thanks
Something to think about, and, maybe experiment with White Zinfandel wines. Next time your in a buying mood, hold up a bottle of Berenger and Sutter Homes and notice that the color of each wine is different. The color is reflective of the wood used to age the wine. The darker the color, the more favorable the wine. Also, the "newer" the White Zinfandel, the better the taste. White Zinfandel should be drunk within three years of its’ Vintage. I have always enjoyed the lighter colored White Zinfandel’s with food and the darker for casual drinking. Another thought: Your should never pay more than $10.00 for a bottle of White Zinfandel. If you notice, the more commerical wineries bottle the White Zinfandel as opposed to the more prestigious ones. It is very hard to go wrong with a White Zinfandel.

Sorry, I don’t drink White Zinfandel.
If you are feeling adventurous, however, you should move into the Rose wines. Rose wines are made from various grapes and has similar styles as White Zinfandel. However, Rose are much more complex than White Zinfandel, and they are more rewarding to try to taste and learn about wines.
My favorite Rose is California’s Vin Gris de Cigare ($10-15), from Bonny Doon. Don’t let the name alarm you – it is made by Bonny Doon, a well respected fun loving winery from San Francisco area. The label has a cigar shaped UFO. The wine is absolutely refreshing and full of fruit, yet not too sweet.
