The wine was very fruity and didn’t have a horrible after taste. Does anybody know of a Sauvignon Blanc with that description!!??
Thanks for all your help, well appreciated.
You will never see a red sauvignon blanc as it is a white grape. They do have a fruity quality that you enjoyed. The better ones are more complex. Adjectives we used to use in the wine business to describe sauvignon blanc are grassy and herbaceous. Many will pick up notes of apple. The wines are great with smoked salmon and scallops. One of my favorites is from the Benziger family winery in Sonoma,Ca.

There are many. Stopbanks (NZ) do a very nice Sauvignon Blanc.

Bit hard to pin down that one.
A bargain sauvignon blanc is Montanta. Normally around £6 and really good for the price. Oyster bay also do a good cheap one. Generally avoid most things under £5.

I really like Sauvignon Blanc. And seeing as I don’t know much about wine matching to food I tend to go for a sauv most of the time.
One of my favourites which isn’t horrendously expensive is montana Reserve (New Zealand) I find that for me the New Zealand and Australian wine have a fresher taste to them.

Try Sainsburys Touraine Sauvignon Blanc (1995 if you can get it). Lovely but most of the Loire Valley Sauvignon Blancs are very good.

A lot of Sauvignon Blancs taste like that. Your best bet, if you want to try some good ones, are to start with any that were produced in New Zealand (Monkey Bay is a really good budget brand). Something about the soil in New Zealand produces the best grapes for Sauvignon Blanc.
Another thing: stay away from the ones produced in California. For some reason, possibly the soil, they all come out tasting like Chardonnay. If you’re like me and don’t like buttery/oakey wine, you won’t like those.

Sauv Blanc is always white. Blanc = White.
Most Sauv Blancs are fruity and citrusy with a clean green bite to them. My favs are Kim Crawford and Grgich Hills. Nummy!
~Cheers!~
