BRENNAN SHOCKS BOOTH WITH A REQUEST, AND THE TEAM INVESTIGATES A MURDERED WINE CRITIC ON BONES THURSDAY, MAY 7, ON FOX

Stewie Griffin of FAMILY GUY Makes Guest Appearance

The team is on the case when human remains are found inside a barrel of wine during a wine tasting. When the victim turns out to be a wine critic whose scathing reviews were capable of sending a vineyard to its ruin, everyone from the winerys owner to the victims own wife becomes a suspect. Meanwhile, Brennan decides she wants to have a baby and surprises Booth with the request to father her child. The unexpected request dredges up a host of unspoken feelings and unresolved issues between the two of them, and Booth becomes consumed by the prospect of having another child. The stress of the situation, coupled with Booths undiagnosed health issue, paves the way for a surprise visit from Stewie Griffin (guest voice Seth MacFarlane), FAMILY GUYs diabolically clever baby who offers Booth advice in his inimitable style in The Critic in the Cabernet episode of BONES airing Thursday, May 7 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. What goes better with prime rib: merlot or cabernet sauvignon?

March 12th, 2010

I have to choose one of those wines as my red wine for my upcoming wedding. I tried them both at my tasting and they were both good so I couldn’t decide right away! Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!

My personal choice is Cab. Merlot is too mellow. Or if you are feeling adventurous, try an Italian dry red wine like Montepulciano Di Abruzzo (? spelling). You can get a good bottle for $10 – $12 or less and it’s very tasty.

If there is a wine shop in your area, go there and ask questions about what would go best with whatever you’re making. I used to be shy about it and felt stupid, because I didn’t know anything about wine & had little money to spend. But I found the people at the wine shops really know their stuff and are very helpful in finding you the best product to fit within your budget. I’ve even been told when a bottle I was considering wasn’t worth the price tag!

What is your favorite cabernet savignon wine?

February 26th, 2010

I would like to add more of my husbands favorite wine lists? What should he taste next?

So far his favorites are:
Clos du Val
Coppola (black label)
Rodney Strong
Kunde
Gallo
Michael Pozzan (cuvee 11)

The best Cabernets I’ve ever had the privilege to drink were …

1964 Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon, from the days when Inglenook was a top-flight winery, at a wine tasting in 1991;

1974 Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon, with rack of lamb in 1996;

2001 Hewitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, from Provenance Napa Valley, with Filet Mignon AND rack of lamb in 2005; the other wine served with this course was a 1995 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild.

Three Cabernets that are currently available, which I can recommend from personal experience, include….

Van Der Hayden, Napa Valley
Provenance, Rutherford, Napa Valley
Solis Estate Reserve, Santa Clara Valley

What is a good red wine to drink? I usually drink Cabernet Sauvignon. ?

February 22nd, 2010

I want to try something different, maybe a red wine that is a little sweeter. Any suggestions before I head up to the liquor store?

I’d recommend a California Zinfandel.

Zinfandel can be light to full bodied. It can be rich and spicy or lighter and fruitier. Aromas and flavors that are typical include raspberry, jam, black pepper, and licorice. This type of red wine is wonderful with steaks, grilled meats, and tomato based dishes. It is believed that Zinfandel originated in Croatia. It has been grown in California since the 1850s with California Zinfandels generally considered to be the best.

Some good brands to try: Renwood, Rosenblum, Turley, Serghesio
