a chardonnay, reisling, pinot gris, or sauvignon blanc
looking for a good inexpensive wine

for piccata, you need a DRY white, not a sweet one, so the reisling especially is out. I’d go with the sauvignon blanc, and two-buck Chuck is fine; you do not need an expensive wine as long as it tastes pleasant to you.

I bought a bottle of pinot gris a couple days ago and accidentally forgot about it, leaving it uncorked and out of the fridge. Is it too late to drink? Judge if you want but, I’m in college so taste isn’t the issue… will I get sick yes or no.

No, you wont get sick. Ive done that plenty of times. If its just a few days I wouldnt worry at all.

Why Can One NOT Mix Bourbon And Wine?

In a question that has been ‘resolved’, which eloquently asked, "Can u mix bourbon and wine?", the resolution was "Never mix the grape and the grain."

Respectfully, I must disagree, and thus ask THIS question: Why Not?

Here, the ‘Bourbon and Vine Cocktail’:
1.5oz Maker’s Mark Bourbon
1oz Pinot Gris
.25oz Blackberry Liqueur
.25oz Fresh Lemon Juice
Garnish with Blackberry

This cocktail, invented at Liberty in Sunny Seattle SURELY shows that spirits and wine CAN in fact be mixed, does it not?

So, why exactly should one NOT mix spirits and wine?

Dinner Party Question?

I’m having a dinner party in a couple weeks time and thinking up some ideas, and for an appetiser I am thinking of serving Chicken liver pate, proscuitto, mini pickles, quince paste and some type of little crusty breads like brioche or something. It would be served like a platter and people could make their own.

What else should I put on the platter? I know some people don’t like pate (not sure about my guests)

What do you think? And what sort of wine should I serve with this? I was thinking Pinot Gris?

You could add some cheese – a high quality parmasan would go very well with what you have and some grissini too and olives.

I would go for a Sauvignon blanc – the dry crispness will balance out the fattiness of the pate, meat and cheese.
